Call for Chapter Proposals for next issue of ICT4D Series
Proposals Submission Deadline: 15 March 2010
Introduction: As of 2010 SPIDER’s ICT4D series will become an anthology. While each issue will cover areas considered to be of strategic importance, the selected topics are to be closely linked to one of SPIDER’s thematic focuses e-governance, e-health and e-learning. The intended target audience is both Swedish and DC development community partners, including civil society. While entries must rest on scientific methods and rigor, texts should be easily accessible to development partners.
Objectives of the ICT4D Series: To disseminate and make ICT4D research easily available to practitioners.
ICT4D topics: Transparency through ICT – empowering people and communities
Chapter Topics: Suggested topics include, but are not limited to, the following:Mobiles as a means to fight corruptionE- governance- fighting corruption through systemic change Expose- investigate- disseminate: looking at Wikileaks and similar services ICT as a tool for increasing transparency of national and international aids flowsTransparency without users- the need to empower citizens and civil society
Submission Procedure: Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before March 15, 2010, a 2-3 page proposal explaining the purpose, objectives, or focus of the proposed chapter. Proposals should include a 2-4 sentence overview of the general topic area, an outline of major topics/major sections covered in the chapter, as well as contact information and a brief bio for each author. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by April 1, 2010 about the status of their proposals. Drafts of chapters (about 6,000 words) will be due by May 15, 2010.

April 1, 2010: Notification of Acceptance
May 15, 2010: Full Chapter Submission
August 1 2010: Comments and feedback
September 1, 2010: Final Chapter Submission
