SPIDER Travel Grant

Who can apply for the SPIDER travel grant?

As a partner university you have the possibility to apply for student travel grants. They are given to students, doing their master thesis within the field of ICT4D, travelling to a developing country as part of field research. Important to note is that only applications coming directly from university departments are accepted, no individual student will be granted!

What is included?

The maximum amount granted is SEK 100,000 for a one-year period, and no more than SEK 20,000 for each student. It is the responsibility of the instructor/teacher/course director to decide which students to select for the grants.

Only travel related costs will be covered, such as flights, local transport, visa, vaccination etc.

Where can your students travel?

The country of study should be a developing country; priority is given for travels to the following countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Bolivia.

The students should not travel to their home countries unless a valid reason can be presented. This should always be discussed with SPIDER.

What is required by the university?

All the administration of the grant will be managed by the applying instructor/teacher/course director, not by SPIDER.

A report should be submitted to SPIDER within 3 months after the end of the grant period. This report must include a financial statement and a project report written by the students of each field research. It is the applying instructor's/teacher's/course director's responsibility that SPIDER recieves these documents.
