Partner Universities

A partner university primarily become a resource center for SPIDER's activities, and as such also provided with the possibility to be engaged and remunerated for its efforts in academic and project activities carried out under the auspice of SPIDER. SPIDER wishes to reward its Swedish partners by providing them the opportunity to find new foreign partnerships and widen the scope of their professional activities.

Fifteen Swedish universities are formally partners in the SPIDER Network. Our ambition is to have all Swedish universities involved with ICT4D to become part of our network. In order to apply to become a partner university, the following steps have to be fulfilled:

  • The enquiry must be followed by an endorsement letter from either the head of the department involved with ICT4D or from the University Rector/President
  • The university is required to develop an ICT4D profile summarizing the expertise available at the university as well as presenting the projects they are active in
  • There needs to be one or two contact persons from each university

By joining the Network the members have access to the following benefits:

  • Project opportunities for joint collaboration among institutions and organizations in Sweden, as well as across borders
  • Opportunities to cooperate with other ICT4D actors and organizations
  • Information sharing and publicity through the SPIDER Newsletter, website and secretariat, as well as access to relevant documentation
  • Access to students and professionals with special knowledge and interest in ICT and development issues
  • Access to information about current ICT4D activities and possibility to attend workshops and meetings regarding ICT and development
  • A window to the South
  • The possibility to apply for travel grants for master thesis students doing field research in developing countries
