E-Health is defined as the use of information and communications technology to improve the performance of health systems. Information and communications technology (ICT) provides a major opportunity to address some of the challenges health sectors across our partner countries battle with, by providing solutions for delivery of health care from a distance, support continuous human resource development through e-learning platforms, track drug flows and support rational drug use, track of financial flows and finally assist in collecting data to inform timely and integrated health system decisions.

The workshop will gather 65 key stakeholders from all over East Africa to meet for a two-day workshop in Kampala, 5-6 November 2008. Representatives from academia, civil society, industry and policy makers as well as technology professionals will collaboratively identify obstacles hindering the success of mobile applications and explore avenues through which they can be addressed.
