  SPIDER is convinced that information and communication technology (ICT) can serve as an effective tool in a multitude of activities. A successful fight against corruption needs to include both measures aimed at removing the opportunities to request unlawful rewards, as well as creating ways to increase the risks of being detected. Through the proliferation of mobile phones citizens have become empowered. Through one of the 4 billion mobile phones estimated to be in use currently, affected citizens around the world now have the means to anonymously report their grievances to digital platforms, mass media and civil society organizations.
